PROGRAMMES OFFERED

THE HIGHER DIPLOMA IN MIDWIFERY EDUCATION PROGRAMME

The Rotunda Hospital in partnership with the University of Dublin, Trinity College, offers an 18-month Midwife Registration Education Programme.

There is one intake every eighteen months starting in September 2007. This programme is offered to Nurses who are registered on the General Division of the Register of Nurses (or those eligible for registration) held by An Bord Altranais and who are accepted by Trinity College Dublin, the hospital`s academic partner. Applicants must be six months post-registered RGN.

BSc IN MIDWIFERY EDUCATION PROGRAMME (UNDERGRADUATE)

In September 2006, a four year honours degree BSc in Midwifery Education Programme commenced (undergraduate). This programme is delivered in partnership with Trinity College, Dublin (www.tcd.ie)

THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN NURSING:
NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE PROGRAMME
Since 2001, the Rotunda Hospital in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, the National Maternity Hospital and the Coombe Women`s Hospital are offering a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing: Neonatal Intensive Care programme.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Rotunda Hospital offers many other educational programmes for practising midwives and doctors. The following programmes are offered:
  • The Teaching, Learning and Assessing in Midwifery Practice Programme
  • The UNICEF 18 hour Breastfeeding Programme
  • The Neonatal Resuscitation Programme
  • The Rotunda Hospital facilitates the Maternity Care Module and education and practice experience of Dublin City University Nursing Students.


    We are happy to facilitate visiting midwives from other countries who wish to gain experience in midwifery at the Rotunda Hospital.
